52Q | #60: Sight Unseen, Buying Blind? Dec23

52Q | #60: Sight Unseen, Buying Blind?

It's a '90s flashback: Marvel is poly bagging all their comics that include a digital code. Plus they shrink wrap every hardcover, with DC joining in for books over $50. This week's 52Q (#60): do you buy poly bagged comics or shrink wrapped books? Is it important to you to have a look through a comic before buying? Does that matter anymore with online previews?

52Q | #56: Creators, Deadlines and Consistency Nov25

52Q | #56: Creators, Deadlines and Consistency

DC's new program of keeping books on schedule by getting books done well ahead of publication and shifting creative teams seems to be working. Of course it also means writers and artists are being juggled around to keep things flowing. Marvel's approach seems to have artists taking turns, giving readers up to six artists in a six issue stretch. This week's 52Q: do you stick to a book when it has multiple creators or do you cherry pick issues based on your favourites? Would you rather see a small publishing delay for creator consistency?

52Q | #53: Best Rogues Gallery

Back by popular demand, Comic Book Daily asks the question and the crew (and special guests) give their answers. Tip of the hat goes to Stanley Jon for this week’s question. Who has the best rogues gallery?  Please provide examples. Ed Campbell The best Super Hero rogues gallery is Batman’s. It is probably one of the largest groups of antagonists in comics (the only other large gallery I can think of is Spider-Man’s). What makes Batman’s the best is the variety of criminals he has to face. One week Batman could be facing a theme based crime (ie: Calendar Man, Riddler), the next he could be facing a psychopath...

Every week Comic Book Daily asks the question and the crew (and special guests) give their answers; we’ll be doing this for 52 weeks. Tip of the hat goes to the gang at Scans Daily for the inspiration and Scott VanderPloeg for this week’s question. Are conventions, especially San Diego Comic Con, still relevant as THE place for announcements? Anthony Falcone (Writer of Whosoever Holds This Hammer) I think that comic conventions have increasingly become THE place for announcements of television shows and movies. The con helps generate good buzz and lets the industry gauge interest in certain projects. Tron Legacy was made after...

But the best would be Wolverine’s claws....

Greg Hyland (Writer/illustrator of the cult classic Lethargic Lad & Lego Star Wars) Speedy. Because his name is Speedy. But he’s Green Arrow’s sidekick, and not the Flash’s. Madness! Ed Campbell (CBD’s Social Media magnate) Stripesy – He was the adult sidekick to a teenage superhero Star Spangled Kid. He had a...

#45: What Exactly Is A Comic?

Every week Comic Book Daily asks the question and the crew (and special guests) give their answers; we’ll be doing this for 52 weeks. Tip of the hat goes to the gang at Scans Daily for the inspiration and Scott VanderPloeg for this week’s question. After reading last week’s 52Q answers (I asked who was reading comics digitally) it seemed unanimous that web comics were not considered mainstream or comics. This week I’d like to explore that and ask why not? What defines a comic for you? Chris Howard (From Egesta Comics, one of the masterminds behind Dressed For Success) I never got around to answering last week,...
