With Jennifer Lawrence calling it quits as Mystique and Hugh Jackman’s recent post indicating that he possibly only has one more flick as Wolverine in him, what’s next for the X-Men films? Could we see Marvel’s mutants join Spider-Man in Marvel’s cinematic universe if Fox drops the ball with the next few films?

While I agree with Walt on the high hopes of one corporation to rule them (the Marvel properties) all, I believe X-Men, and possibly Fantastic Four, depending on if they do their reboot right, will remain Fox’s. Fox has put considerable effort into their “past” X-Men timeline films and they are being pretty well received, and grossing equally or beyond as well at the box office. With how deep a property like X-Men can easilly go, I don’t see them creating enough stinkers or deciding to drop the property, Jennifer Lawrence and Hugh Jackman or not. While I like their casting choices I don’t think they will spell the end of Fox’s efforts. I would have to put extra special emphasis towards X-Men on this as the biggest point may be that the X-Men well allows for so many spin-off character films to create new hype over B or C list characters, which as we’ve come to learn, can be profitable for Hollywood.
