Captain Victory and the Galactic Rangers #3, Pacific Comics, March 1982

This little gem has quite a lot going for it.

First off the book features the first appearance of Ms. Mystic (back up story). Ms. Mystic is a witch who was burned at the stake during the Salem witch hunts of the late 17th century. She returns to earth after her soul spent 3 centuries existing in another plane of existence. Ms. Mystic is an early environmental warrior and in this issue she avenges a Bald Eagle killed by hunters (she’s obviously a patriot as well). I predict a resurgence for the character as environmental issues become more and more the focus of the media and the public at large.

Secondly the comic features a dynamic Jack Kirby cover. The cover also has a small inset drawn by Neal Adams. So to recap, Jack Kirby, Neal Adams, 1st appearance of an environmentalist hero and cheap as heck!

The Overstreet Price Guide shows $3 for the 9.2 grade.

Strengths that make this comic book a good long term investment are:

– Only $3 in high grade – that is surely a typo isn’t it?

– Created and drawn by legend Neal Adams

– Back up story for Captain Victory, a fabulous little Jack Kirby title

– She has long white hair down to her ankles !!
