Dust Jacket Incentive
This just struck me as odd. IDW is releasing Rocketeer Adventures Volume 1 hardcover on December 7th, and the direct market version will ship with a dust jacket. Here’s the relevant quote:
All direct market copies of this book will have a dust jacket, exclusive to the direct market, and only available on the first printing!
Anything to make a product unique and different appeals to collectors in general but dust jackets are the bane of book readers everywhere. This feels like direct market buyers are being punished.

I take my dust jackets off when I read my HC books.
If you have to remove something to comfortably read a book then it’s a problem.
