DC COMICS ANNOUNCES SPECIAL 1:200 VARIANTS FOR SEPTEMBER

With anticipation for DC Comics’ New 52 continuing to build, DC Comics announces new 1:200 black and white variants as add-ons to the five titles listed below.

These titles, all solicited in the July Previews, now feature variant editions as follows:

  • JUSTICE LEAGUE #1 1:200 BLACK AND WHITE VARIANT EDITION (MAY118218), featuring art by Jim Lee.
  • JUSTICE LEAGUE #1 1:25 VARIANT EDITION (JUL110188), featuring art by David Finch.

As a reminder, JUSTICE LEAGUE #1 is also offered as a special combo pack edition (JUL110189), which is polybagged with a redemption code for a digital download of the issue.

  • THE FLASH #1 1:200 BLACK AND WHITE VARIANT EDITION (MAY118219), featuring art by Francis Manapul.
  • THE FLASH #1 VARIANT EDITION (JUL110194), featuring art by Ivan Reis and Tim Townsend. The quantity of this variant you may order will be determined by your lowest ordered DC Universe comic book on FOC in the same week.
  • ACTION COMICS #1 1:200 BLACK AND WHITE VARIANT EDITION (MAY118220), featuring art by Rags Morales.
  • ACTION COMICS #1 VARIANT EDITION (JUL110202), featuring art by Jim Lee and Scott Williams. The quantity of this variant you may order will be determined by your lowest ordered DC Universe comic book on FOC in the same week.
  • BATMAN #1 1:200 BLACK AND WHITE VARIANT EDITION (MAY118221), featuring art by Greg Capullo
  •  BATMAN #1 VARIANT EDITION (JUL110207), featuring art by Ethan Van Sciver. The quantity of this variant you may order will be determined by your lowest ordered DC Universe comic book on FOC in the same week.
  • GREEN LANTERN #1 1:200 BLACK AND WHITE VARIANT EDITION (MAY118222), featuring art by Ivan Reis.
  • GREEN LANTERN #1 VARIANT EDITION (JUL110219), featuring art by Greg Capullo. The quantity of this variant you may order will be determined by your lowest ordered DC Universe comic book on FOC in the same week.

These things are cash grabs that have a shelf life of about two weeks.  Bad enough most of the DC relaunch titles have covers by artists who aren’t doing the interior art.  Bad enough there are variant covers of a lot of these books.  Now we have black and white variant covers.  Wow.

I think we just found our next Retailer Q topic.  Sorry, couldn’t locate an image for any of these variants so I added my favourite relaunch cover instead, one that isn’t on the list above.
