  1. While the July 24th Dell Four Colour piece was awhile ago I found my notes today and since it is Friday afternoon I allow for some bit of fun away from research. It is still a bit odd as to what was going on with this title? Constant odds and ends of stuff. The volume of material allows for much varilence of opinion on your choices. Paintings (and photographs) are not proper for comic book covers as a user at the time. I was reading the Tom Corbett books of the day and to not see an improvement on the Glanzman illustrations in the book on the cover of the comic was disappointing. #4 The Lone Ranger does not wear a red shirt nor does he drive a stage coach. Is there a copy right issue here? It looks more like Red Ryder. Twice you guys suggested Art Deco: #9 Smiling Jack, which is simply poor drawing, is not anywhere near Art Deco or anything else. Flash Gordon #5 a delicious piece but is not art deco. What is unusual is that it has trees and greenery in stead of architecture. Some years ago a friend and i tried to create an exhibition of gardens in sci-fi. We could not get very far past Silent Running and abandoned the idea. #3 Tinker Bell in 1959 does not work. It late to the story and possibly going for money. #2 You know that those are not elves right? They are dwarfs lifted from Snow White. Barks is fine but the subject is not interesting. Porky Pig as a Mountie is interesting, so is anything by Walt Kelly for his Pogo comics. I actually paid the extra 5¢ for them. The Brownies always wonderful and King of the Royal Mounted. If Red Ryder was a four Colour Dell I would include Fred Harman. Have a good weekend.
