Today(ish) in Twitter – Monday January 11th, 2009

twitterToday(ish) in Twitter is a regular column wherein our staff troll through the best of the 140 letter updates of the comic book world. ComicBookDaily is not responsible for the content of these tweets, but we will admit to laughing our collective bums off at some of them.

Greg Rucka And the ordeal has begun…. (referring to a gymnastics competition he is watching… not this column.) Yeah, pommel pretty much murdered all four of the team. Witness the beast. Looks innocent, don’t it?

Ryan Kelly Should I hand-letter with my bland inconsistent penmanship or digitally letter with the fonts I bought at Comicraft?I really need advice.thx

Brian Wood @Ryan Kelly find someone to make your hand lettering into a font (Farel did this). Best of both worlds.

Evan Dorkin Letters of Note: Jerry Siegel offers pre-DC Comics Superman art gig to Russell Keaton 1934 (note diff SM origin)

B Clay Moore There’s a new Hawaiian Dick cover hidden in the Beat’s year-end survey. I’ll be more long-winded next year:

Steven Sanders I finished the Agent Brand WWII pinup, just not the setting.Wallpaper of it was requested:

Paul Pope I’ve been slowly working my way through Fellini’s Satyicon– a flawed yet fabulous film, shockingly brutal. Incredible sets and costumes. Fellini says Satyricon is influenced by memories of reading the old Flash Gordon comics as a kid. It’s kind of a sci-fi film in a way…

Jill Thompson “Dream as if you’ll live forever-Live as though you’ll die today.”Of course I mean that in the ‘to the fullest’ & not ‘on life support’ way

Brian Reed I have named the congestion in my ears Charles. Now I can yell “Get out of my head, Charles!” with impunity.

Blair Butler New Fresh Ink with an exclusive from Top Cow: Plus, Blackest Night 6 review and more. Oh, comics, how I love thee.

Beaucoup Kevin Darwyn Cooke is going to speak at the Smithsonian about his PARKER adaptation:

Gene Ha Saw Avatar and was impressed. Raises the bar for fantasy worlds in all media. That makes my job harder. Good stuff.

Cameron Stewart Batman & Robin 9 is a longer issue than normal. Good for the readers, bad for my deadlines.

Dennis Calero “sometimes I just wanna put life in front of me, and punch it really hard!” – Dennis Calero 2010

Chris Eliopoulos My wife ran the Disney marathon in 5 hours. I went on Spaceship Earth.

Andy Diggle Right, I’m off to take my 6-year old daughter to see AVATAR… again!

Steph Buscema Time for coffee and work. Gotta get samples and character designs done for a meeting on wed. with a kids book publisher. Pretty nervous.

Rich Johnston Grim’n’gritty comics is eighties/nineties/noughties. This decade is all about light’n’brighty comics!

Benjamin Birdie HOLY CRAP!!! Nearly ALL of Dan Hipp’s GYAKUSHU online!!! FOR FREE!!! GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO!!!!!

Leigh Walton Jeff Lemire speaks with The Walrus! What secrets lie behind its tusky grin?

Cullen Bunn Bad news, everybody. Judging from the multiple sirens and horns blaring outside my window, it appears the apocalypse is here.

Erik Larsen One way to impress people is to expand your vocabulary and use more literate sounding words. Like, I call the bathroom the “growler.”

Paul Pope Went to a club last night with a magician on stage, empty but for about 5 people. Too bad he couldn’t conjure an audience out of thin air.
