Covered 365: Day 24

A great comic book cover matching each day of the year, 1 through 365. Please chime in with your favourite corresponding cover, from any era.

Day 24 – Crime Does Not Pay #24, Artist – Charles Biro.

Here’s another great Golden Age cover that has lit up only in the past couple of years. Charles Biro has traditionally been neglected but a new fan base is discovering lots and lots of great Biro covers.

Such a gruesome cover! This must be one of the more brutal covers of the golden age. My vote for today is Conan 24. First full Red Sonja story. https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Conan_the_Barbarian_Vol_1_24

I have failed miserably in keeping up with this topic but I will chime in that Chris O.’s choice gets my vote over Crime Does Not Pay. Other than the shock value it is a pretty crude cover. I don’t think much of Brio’s talent as an illustrator – I think it is his crazy imagination that distinguishes him. Kind of the Hieronymus Bosch of comic covers.

Five other #24s:

Green Hornet Comics
Mystic
Planet Comics
Rangers Comics
Weird War Tales

I’ve found a better way to do research for this topic, so I’m going to try to get back in the game and get ahead, starting with one day ahead. My #25s:

Hawkman
Jo-Jo
Metal Men
Whiz
Witches Tales
