Covered 365: Day 86

Green Lantern #86 – DC Comics, October/November 1971, Artist – Neal Adams.

I didn’t want to do it but I had to. Green Lantern #85 and #86 are inseparable and unique in that they are a continuation of the same cover. I actually think 86 is the better of the 2 covers.

Joe Doolin’s Jungle 86 was right there and hard not to pick but I guess I wanted to make a statement with the GL 85/86 combo.

A great comic book cover matching each day of the year, 1 through 365. Please chime in with your favourite corresponding cover, from any era.

Wow! I didn’t think you would pick two consecutive covers…but… when your right your right!

A Neal Adams drug issue double header. Didn’t think you would do it Walt.

No argument and thanks for the tip of the hat to Jungle.

I didn’t come up with anything surprising for #87. I have it down to Action, another GL, or G.I. Combat. They each have their merits but I just really dig G. I. Combat. There are other Adams #87s that I would not pick but nevertheless continue to demonstrate his absolute domination during the late sixties and early seventies.

I bought this off the stands in the summer of 1971 when I started collecting. Wow.
Neal did a number of homages to Golden Age covers. This is very likely an homage to Love Journal #10 from October 1951. Even the colour of the background faces are the same.
