Meiji University's planned Manga library

20091022mog00m200033000p_size5The  BBC reports that Meiji University of Tokyo, Japan is planning to open a library filled with manga and otaku-subculture related items for the purposes of academic research on mainstream culture. This sounds like a fantastic idea, when I went to university, all I had to read were textbooks on Health. Of course, this could only happen in Japan where the anime and manga culture is so deeply engrained into society where no one would bat an idea at the idea of spending millions on taxpayer money on that kind of institution.
