Dang! Even when clothed Milo Manara’s women still look erotic. I can’t think of another talent who has such understanding and control over the nuances that define the female form. And since I wont be able to stand up for the next few minutes…, I’ll also mention…
The Doc Strange by Barry Windsor Smith is a quintessential example of his artistry. I choose this word deliberately I as I don’t it to be confused with craftsmanship. As many new generation talent grew up on a diet of pop culture, it’s guys like BWS who legitimized cartooning as art. Look how organic the whole drawing looks… There’s a clear sense of how the clothes might feel despite being a single weight line drawing. If I was Italian, I’d end with brave! But since I’m Asian, I’ll just say bing kwo kwa!
