Hal Jordan #1 (Movie Prequel)

By now you'll have seen the Green Lantern movie, and if you haven't, you probably won't at all. To supplement the film, DC opted to release five tie-in one-shots focusing on characters in the movie. Preceded by issues focusing on Tomar Re, Kilowog and Abin Sur, the fourth one-shot centres on Hal Jordan and is penned by Green Lantern guru and one of the film's writers in Greg Berlanti.

Auteur Theory

So the DC Comic Solicits were released yesterday to a big underwhelming thud. It’s not that there weren’t any interesting ideas shown; see the wonderful solicit for Wonder Woman. It’s just I’m underwhelmed with a sense of not caring. I…

Batman Arkham City #2

Last week issue two of the Arkham City mini-series was released. The mini-series, serving as the bridge between the highly successful video game, Batman: Arkham Asylum and its sequel Arkham City, is five issues long and looks to elaborate on the story after the first game while setting up the conditions for the follow-up. Does the book measure up to the game, or is it just another video game-comic book tie in? Onward!

Review: Batman and Robin #23

Judd Winick. His name polarizes comic book readers it seems. Gracing everything from Green Lantern to Green Arrow, and up to and including Outsiders and Batman, the writer returns to the Batman universe for a three issue arc on Batman and Robin with a story centered on the character he brought back from the grave. Jason Todd returns in this issue, but just what is up his sleeve is anyone's guess. Onward ho!

Review: Flashpoint #1

Having stopped reading the Flash series some time ago, I wasn't sure what to expect from this first issue. I had read issue 12 for the necessary direct set-up to this mini-series to get an idea of where Johns had taken the Barry Allen Flash series and how that tied into Flashpoint.
